The International Monetary Fund (IMF) sharply lowered its forecast for the growth of the Russian economy in 2019. Valuation worsened from 1.6% to 1.2% due to weak growth in the first quarter.
At the same time, forecasts of the global economy also became darker. The estimate of increasing global GDP in 2019 was reduced to 3.2%, and in 2020 to 3.5%. At the same time, the fund improved its forecast for Russian GDP in 2020 to 1.9%, which is 0.2% better than in the April IMF report.
In June, the international rating agency Fitch lowered its forecast for Russia's GDP growth in 2019 from 1.5% to 1.2%. The reason for this decision was the accelerated economic slowdown at the beginning of the year, amounting to 0.5%. Earlier, the forecast for economic growth in the Russian Federation also worsened the World Bank, saying that GDP in 2019 will grow by only 1.2%.
